BECOMING 1 IN CHRIST BY KEEPING CHRIST 1ST

Source of Redemption

I was driving the other day & saw an advertisement on the back of a transit [HRT] bus. In bold letters on a yellow back ground, the ad implored the reader to “Call Us”. Below the wording were pictures & names of two local lawyers. The ad was big, bold, and simple - just what an ad on the back of a moving bus needs to be, right? The only problem was there wasn’t a phone number to call or a name of a law firm to look up, just a couple of common names.

I wonder how many veiled messages we receive daily to do this, try that, call her or him, go here, drink this or smoke that - after all, we deserve a little fun, some R&R, right? And yet these messages, like the ad on the bus, omit a pretty important fact; that in doing these things, we just might destroy our marriages, families, & in the end, our own lives.

That’s how the enemy works - through omissions, deceptions, half-truths & lies. Promises the world, yet delivers pain, sorrow, & destruction – although Satan is willing to let us enjoy pleasure for a season.

I am so thankful in the Bible, we find not just the, who, what, where, when & why of life, but also the how! The Bible tells us that we have all sinned -- we are all deserving of/destined for hell – we must repent & be born again. What a cruel joke it would have been if the Bible stopped there, but it doesn't! No, thank God the Bible does more than point out our hopeless condition, it points us to the source of forgiveness, redemption, & second chances – Jesus Christ!

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me.” Unlike the HRT ad, the Bible says in effect "Call God, and you can reach Him at this number, J-E-S-U-S!". Yes, it walks us from repentance to the very one who died to pay the price, the penalty, the consequence for our sins – Jesus Christ!

Friends, if you've not called out to Jesus, I implore you to do so, sooner rather than later. For those of you who have I will…

See You at the Finish Line!
