CHR1ST FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
BECOMING 1 IN CHRIST BY KEEPING CHRIST 1ST
There seems to be a growing epidemic of bullying among children today. I don’t know if it’s worse than before. I remember being bullied for my acne, “pizza face” and what was perceived, at least by my classmates, as a BIG NOSE. By the grace of God I grew OUT of my acne and INTO my nose! On second thought with the advent of social media I am sure bullying is 1000x worse than when I was a kid, maybe more.
Seems like everyone from the First Lady, to more self-proclaimed stars in Hollywood than I can count, are making it their mission to stamp out bullying among children. I have an idea that will not completely eliminate bullying among our kids but will greatly reduce the amount of and stomach for bullying. What if….. wait for it… what if… moms and dads and just plain adults in general would stop bullying people themselves?
Our kids can just turn on any talk show, day or night, and get an ear/eyeful of bullying by supposed adults hiding behind their coats and ties and dresses and jewelry. People, who are singled out as being successful, have taken bullying and character assassination to a new level and are applauded for it. Civility and respect has long since been sacrificed on the altar of political expediency and personal agendas and somehow we expect our children to treat one another with civility and respect. We call the President “Hitler” and laugh and yet when our children call one another “pizza face” or “big nose” or far worse we are mortified.
Friend, but for the grace of God and a tsunami of humility and repentance sweeping this country, I do not foresee things getting better. Now don’t get me wrong, they can but it takes two to dance and while the Lord is willing and able, the majority of Americans I suspect are not. Where does this road lead? The Lord knows and that is why He needs to be your guide. I like the church sign that said, “If God is your co-pilot, you’re in the wrong seat!” So true He needs to be our pilot, our God, the master and commander of our lives.
So what do we do? If you are reading this and are in the habit of bullying others, stop! Our kids see us and hear us, and don’t think for a second that satan will not use our behavior to influence our kids, for the worse. Matthew 5:44-45 “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
See you at the finish line!
