CHR1ST FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
BECOMING 1 IN CHRIST BY KEEPING CHRIST 1ST
The Bible advises us in Matthew 10:32-33, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me (Jesus) before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” In other words, we are not to be embarrassed, ashamed or afraid of our position as followers of Jesus Christ.
I have been asked why I’m not more outspoken on the political front. Fair question. My answer is: I have chosen, for better or worse, to pick and choose my battles. In other words, I have made the decision to focus on Jesus Christ. If my love for and obedience to Jesus offends, then so be it! The Bible said the cross would offend and Jesus would be a stumbling block to many, so I’ve decided, for me, Jesus is worth offending folks, politicians - not so much.
Yesterday, I was at COSTCO when my phone rang. It was one of those facetime calls with my granddaughter Rosie, aka “Sweet Pea”. Ask anyone who sees me when I’m around my grandkids and they will tell you I’m not the stoic, stone-faced, intimidating looking guy when I’m, say at COSTCO fighting the crowds.
Well, when I answered that call and saw Sweet Pea grinning from ear to ear and laughing the second she saw her Granddaddy, I didn’t care where I was or who was watching - I cut loose! Much to the amusement of several folks around me. We had a grand time indeed! I hung up with a smile on my face and a pep in my step.
As I was walking through the parking lot, it dawned on me that that is what it means to not be embarrassed, ashamed or afraid to lift up Jesus.
May God fan the flames of our love for Jesus Christ and for those “whosoevers” He came and died to save, that we will just cut loose with the love of Jesus at the most random of times and places.
See you at the finish line!
